Tudor Day at Turquoise

We had a fantastic Tudor day today at Turquoise. We had the privilege of meeting His Royal Highness King Henry VIII and we even asked him some questions.  Later on we ate some French baguette, butter and grapes just like in the Tudor times. Thank you to all children and parents/carers for your efforts to make this day so special and memorable for us.

Science Investigation

In Science this week, we have been learning about importance of  good hygiene. To demonstrate how using soap helps us get rid of germs we did an experiment. If you want to try this home just follow the instructions below. Have fun!

You’ll need:

• Soap
• Water
• Bowl
• Grounded black pepper (this represents the germs on our finger)

How to do it:
1. Take the bowl and fill it with water
2. Sprinkle some pepper over the water
3. Dip your finger into it and observe. Nothing will happen to the pepper present in the bowl.
4. Now, put some liquid dish washer gel on to your finger
5. Now slowly dip the finger with the gel into the bowl in the centre
6. You’ll notice that the pepper which is sprinkled over the water moves away from the finger and rushes back to the outer edge of the bowl.

So we concluded that if we use soap to wash our hands, we get rid of germs.
